Associate Lawyer

We are a service-driven boutique financial services firm that specializes in the legal needs of financial institutions.

We are seeking a junior associate to work with our commercial finance and commercial recovery teams.

Our clients include Canadian chartered banks, credit unions, private lenders and bankruptcy trustees and receivers and we act for our clients in commercial finance and commercial realization matters. On the finance side, our services include real estate development and construction financing; Aboriginal lending on and off reserve; aircraft finance; and syndicated transactions.  On the realization side, our services include mortgage enforcement/foreclosures; personal property security realization; bankruptcy and receiverships; and negotiated resolutions.

Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Kamloops)

We are a boutique firm specializing in Commercial Finance and Commercial Realization/Foreclosure for the financial institutions of Canada. We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant or Paralegal to support our Commercial Finance and Commercial Recovery teams. We offer competitive wages, bonuses, along with Dental and Extended Health Benefits. You would be joining a team of very experienced paralegals who are willing to train and support other members of the team.

Skills & Abilities

  • Intelligent, able to work independently and in a team environment, conscientious, detail-oriented, efficient and effective, hard working and dedicated to meeting the needs of our clients;
  • Exceptional spoken and written English including spelling and grammar;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office required;
  • Experience with PClaw is preferred but not required;
  • Experience in Commercial Litigation considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Legal Assistant: preferably 1 year of experience working in a Law Firm;
  • Paralegal 1 year Minimum in Paralegal Position;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills;
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to manage daily office-related tasks;
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and ability to work independently;
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with all staff, managers and lawyers in a team environment.
